چکیده

Studies have questioned the beneficial effects of exporter–importer cooperation by showing, without explaining, that it may not a positive effect on performance. We contend carries genes its own demise. develop model drawing insights from exchange theory and dark-side perspective social relationships, which we then test using two consecutive data collection efforts with exporters. Results suggest influence exporter market performance has an inverted U shape; at high levels, fades becomes negative. Further, this is indirect. Cooperation must first importer’s behavior, via specific investments, to improve exporter’s Moreover, find lower levels interdependence increase low-to-moderate investments impervious psychic distance. When Is More Not Better?

It is often assumed that when sensing in autonomous robot navigation, the more measurements taken, the better. In many cases, this is indeed true. However, we have found that in an outdoor, unstructured environment where the number of possible measurements one can take is limited and error is not normally distributed, additional measurements may cause more harm than good. These “rogue” measurem...

Problem solving (e.g., drug design, traffic engineering, software development) by task forces represents a substantial portion of the economy of developed countries. Here we use an agent-based model of cooperative problem solving systems to study the influence of diversity on the performance of a task force. We assume that agents cooperate by exchanging information on their partial success and ...

When more is not better: the role of cumulative risk in child behavior outcomes.

BACKGROUND Cumulative risk research has established the deleterious effects of co-occurring risk factors on child behavior outcomes. However, extant literature has not addressed potential differential effects of cumulative risk at different points in development and has left open questions about whether a threshold model or a linear risk model better describes the impact of cumulative risk on b...
